This place is still very interesting and at times frightening but they've at least remodeled their interior in a way I don't hate. Yes I was turned around and confused with the new layout but I realized how functional the schematic is and I approve.
Here's what they've gotten right over the years I've been a City Heights / North Park resident:
- Ballast Point Manta Ray always stocked
- Organic produce are looking cleaner (before it looked like a pissed off worker cleaned his/her shoes with them)
- Less spiderwebs in the fruit baskets
- They're finally stocking the bigger sized vegan hotdogs by Lightlife (yay)
- The male staff seem to keep their perverted eyes averted (finally)
- Fewer goons outside
- Nicer, faster clerks
So yeah, as you can see, I'm not hard to please. Vons got their shit together now so I'm not afraid of being a little more regular. -

Little surprised that the cookies I purchased on 10/16/19 had a "sell by date" of 07/21/19.
What's up with that?
Is this a discount store posing as a Vons? -

This is a nice grocery store - a nice sized store with a good variety of products for your grocery needs. The service is friendly although if you need help you'll need to come up front and bother a cashier because you won't find help throughout the store.
It's clean and big, with decent prices -- *if* you use the store card, and even better if you are willing to spend a few minutes using their mobile app before a shopping trip.
The shelves are well stocked and the fruit/veggie section was well maintained. The store was clean and logically laid out although the aisle signage didn't always make sense - for example go to the aisle that says snacks and you'll find beer...hmmmm....maybe that's someone's snack. LOL!
Over the last couple of years or so, they seem to have improved their produce quality and selection. It's surprisingly good for a large supermarket. Their meat selection and quality is pretty good as well, though for meat and seafood I'll still often go a bit more out of my way and pay a bit more to buy it from somewhere else. -

Bill, one of the managers here, catcalled me as I was loading my car with groceries. As I confronted him about it, he looked shocked, as I am sure he didn't expect a woman to talk back. Ran back into the store and into the back room. Bill and whoever hired him needs to re evaluate their life choices.

The Manager Jose needs to be terminated and I don't care if Corporate throws him under the bus. His lack of customer service and standoffish behavior is unacceptable. He has the temerity to provoke me to call Upper Management claiming it will have no harm towards his job. Listen here, majority of people here in San Diego are one paycheck away from being destitute so I wouldn't exude this attitude of any financial constraints wont affect you. I won't Jose gone right away and I want Corporate to do something about it.
